Eco Council
At Listerdale Junior Academy we want all children to feel valued. One of the ways we do this, is to give children extra responsibilities and ensure they understand how important and appreciated their role in our school is.
The role of our Eco Council is a very important one. These children have been chosen to promote ways to make our school more sustainable and encourage everyone to be more mindful of our world. The Eco Council are considerate of the environment and come up with ingenious ideas to help save the planet!
Our school Eco Council was voted in with a focus on democracy. Each class from FS2-Y6 has an elected Eco Council representative.
Meet our Eco Council:
Our priorities include :
-
Keeping our school outdoor areas clean
-
Making sure people are using the rubbish bins correctly
-
Making sure the crisp packet bin in the hall is labelled and used correctly
-
Recycling our paper, including weekly collections
-
Bringing more wildlife into/around our school grounds
-
Keeping improving our garden and outside areas
-
Making sure taps are turned off and rubbish is not left on our classroom floors
-
Helping with travel-trackers and encouraging active travel to school
Our Eco Councillors helped support and facilitate our school taking part in The Great Big School Clean 2024. Where we removed 19 bags of waste from our school grounds! Along with also helping to organise the planting of a wildflower meadow in celebration of King Charles III and the Coronation!
